A personal note from Candice

Why would I have ever
left REMAX?

It’s the question every REMAX agent eventually asks me. Let me answer it honestly.

From one peer to another

I started at REMAX when I was 19. It was everything I knew.

Top producer in Denver. Top 10% for years. REMAX Hall of Fame recipient. I believed in the brand and wore above the crowd with pride for 21 years.

And I almost stayed. I almost missed everything that came next.

I was watching the older generation literally die selling real estate — not because they loved it, but because they’d never built anything that could run without them. And I thought: that is not the life I want.

In the end it wasn’t about the splits or the tools. It was personal growth and unlimited opportunity. Not living and dying in the day to day. That’s the emotional piece most people don’t see until they’re on the other side of it.

— Candice Ensign  ·  21 years REMAX  ·  Hall of Fame

80 hours a week. A 3-year-old at home. A life that wasn’t mine.

I was producing. But I had no life. Grinding and watching the generation ahead of me literally work themselves to death — not from passion, but because they’d never built anything that could run without them.

I kept telling myself I was crazy to even consider leaving. REMAX was my identity. The brand loyalty ran deep. The relationships ran deeper.

45 days in, my life changed. And I’m still just getting started.

The culture was different. An opportunity showed up I almost said no to. I said yes — and that one decision opened a leadership path I didn’t know existed. Team leader. Regional director. MAPS coach.

KW believes in growing its people — not just production numbers. Real estate is a vehicle. It should fund the life you’re passionate about. KW showed me how to actually build that.

An honest read on the merger

What I’m honestly
watching right now.

You don’t need another recruiter telling you the sky is falling. You also don’t need corporate telling you “nothing changes.” Because you and I both know nothing never means nothing. So here’s what I’m watching:

Real shareholders own 59%. REMAX owns 41%.

Read the math: this isn’t a merger of equals. It’s an acquisition with REMAX branding kept on the door. A Real CEO runs the combined company. Headquarters moves to Miami. After 50+ years as a Denver brand — the parent entity now lives in Florida.

Two fundamentally different cultures forced together.

A decentralized franchise network meeting a centralized cloud brokerage. Industry analysts are already flagging retention questions. The integration won’t be as clean as the press release suggests.

The question worth sitting with.

Forget the merger for a minute. At this point in your career — what’s actually important to you? Not what was important when you started. Not your business plan. What matters to you, today, when no one’s watching?

What I actually believe

Everyone out there right now is pushing
rev share. Profit share. Recruiting.
That’s not what this conversation is about.

If profit share matters to you — I’m one of the top earners in Colorado and we can talk about it. But that’s not why I’m reaching out.

What I’m passionate about — what I’ve given my career to — is growing people. The whole person. Companies get so busy trying to grow that they forget about the human being doing the growing. KW never has. That’s what I want to talk to you about.

What you might be missing

You’ve mastered the deal.
But have you mastered yourself?

Leverage that gives you your life back

Teams, systems, models that actually work. Stop being the business and start owning it. Real estate funds your life instead of consuming it.

The leader inside you

Team leader, operating principal, coach, trainer. KW called something out of me I didn’t know was there. Most agents never get the chance to find out who they could become.

Wealth beyond commissions

Profit share. Ownership. Models built so you stop trading hours for dollars. Real wealth that doesn’t require you to keep selling forever.

No ceiling on who you become

Gary Keller’s top 100. National leadership. Global community. The version of you who’s been waiting to grow has somewhere to go.

A moment of honesty

You knew before
the rest of us did.

You’ve been sitting with this announcement longer than the public has. Carrying it quietly. Watching the company you built your career under prepare for a chapter you didn’t write.

And somewhere in that quiet, I imagine you’ve been asking yourself questions you haven’t said out loud yet.

Not just “should I stay or go.” Something deeper. “Am I missing something? Is there a version of this career I haven’t lived yet? A version of myself I haven’t met?”

Those are the questions I want to sit with you in. Not to sell you anything. Just to be the person who asks them out loud with you — because I’ve been there, and nobody asked me those questions until it was almost too late.

You are the brand. Your clients call you, not the balloon, not the logo. The only question worth sitting with is whether you’re somewhere that actually lets that be true.

If you’re growing, you’re alive. If you’re not growing, you’re dying.

One last thing

Know another REMAX agent who could use
a real conversation right now?

If someone came to mind while you were reading this — send this their way. No pitch, no pressure on them either. Just a story they might need to hear from a peer who’s been there.
